Strawbridge Pools, Spas & Fencing wants to provide the opportunity for everyone to access our website and learn not only about the company, but also its products, and information about how you can enjoy pools and spas. We are continually working towards making the site compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 AA level (WCAG 2.2 AA) standard, and strive, where possible, to aim for the AAA level. Efforts to date include:
Color Contrast
The color contrast of text to background and elements, such as buttons to backgrounds are required to have a contrast of 4.5:1 to comply with WCAG 2.2 AA. All elements have at least this contrast or more, throughout the webpage and in some cases is greater than 7:1 to comply with the WCAG 2.2 AAA guidelines. Where possible, efforts have been to made to comply with the Accessible Perceptual Contrast Algorithm (APCA) requirements.
Alternative Text
All images, including are described with alternative text in order to provide a textual description to those users who are visually impaired.
Heading Structure
Skip links to main content, headings, and links are reachable by tabbing and “clicked” using “enter.” The entire website is reachable by directional controls.
Cookie Notice
The cookie notice was selected for and adjusted to be reachable by tabbing and to not create a keyboard trap. In a lot of websites, the cookie notice is not reachable by the tab key leading the navigation to go “under” or “around” the cookie notice. This then creates an obstacle that stays on the site blocking the content underneath.
Elimination of Duplicate “More” Links
Another problem solved, in part, in the Strawbridge Pools, Spas & Fencing website are the multiple “read more” button texts. It is a WCAG requirement to not have duplicative link text in buttons or links. While Joe Dolson, an expert in accessibility noted this problem years ago, it still exists in WordPress as a whole.
